Day 14 Sub Q fluid Set and Needles

As mentioned, I had to inject Sub-Q fluid into Wonton everyday after she got sick. The purpose of the fluid was to keep her from dehydrating and balance her blood chemical level. I basically pulled up the skin on her back and put the needle into it. During her last days Wonton became so thin and when I poked the needle in, it came through the other side of her skin.
It was quite a chore to do everyday; however, it was kind of fun to see how the liquid disappearing into Wonton's body.

Day 13 Sleeping together

For four years, Wonton and I had always slept together. Every night when I went to bed, she would walk into my room, jump on to the bed, find a comfortable spot and lie down. She usually walked into my room within 30 seconds. I always left my door open and when I heard a squeak, I knew she was in. Usually she started off lying next to me at night, and when I woke up in the morning she was often found pushed to the corner of the bed.

This is an attempt of taking a picture of me and her sleeping on the same bed.

I still leave my bedroom door open at night.

Day 12 DNA

I found tons of Wonton's DNA today! This is her other brush and because the bristles are kind of like small metal needles, they collect dander and loose hair easily. I still haven't cleaned the brush since the last time I brushed Wonton. Should I clean it? Or save it for Wonton's clone in the future?

Day 11 A card

I work with autistic children. One of the kids that I work with wrote this card to me knowing that my cat was sick. He's 7 years old, talkative and fun to work with! He also drew Wonton accurately! We were all so glad that he showed his empathy so nicely!

Day 10 First treatment

When Wonton first got her diagnosis, the vet suggested me to go for euthanasia because her kidney failure was chronic and it would deteriorate, but with ongoing treatments she could live a little longer. I did not go for his suggestion because the news was still too shocking for me to accept. I went for treatment and her first treatment at the vet cost me about $500. On top of that I will have to give her sub-q fluid daily to sustain. (Pictures of Sub-q fluid equipment coming soon)

Day 9 Allergy Relief

In January 2006 I started to have frequent attacks of hives and I thought I was having allergic reactions to Wonton; so I bought this allergy relief solution. I wiped off the dander on Wonton every two to three weeks. It did not help because I was actually not allergic to dander; I just found out two months ago that I am allergic to dust and shellfish. -_-"

Day 8 Pet Taxi

This is Wonton's private taxi to places. She hated it! I tried different strategies to get her in it.
#1: Put "Temptations" in it.
#2: Put "catnip" in it.
#3: Shoved her in and ended up with various scratches on my arms.

p.s. Today I started having my roomie hold up a white background for me!

Day 7 Canned food

Two cans of wet cat food by Purina are shown here. They were purchased two weeks before the pet food recall earlier in March or April 2007 and of course Purina was one of the brands that were involved. I did some careful research and these two cans were actually okay; but somehow I did not dare to feed them to Wonton. They have been lying in the cupboard forever.
Wonton always loved these canned cat meals. Whenever she heard the sound of can opening she would walk right into the kitchen and meowed endlessly even though sometimes I was actually opening luncheon meat cans.
Maybe I will save it for the next cat?

Day 6 Bed

Wonton's little bed strikes up a lot of memories. When she was smaller she would curl herself up around it like a ball. Sometimes she got too comfy in it she would pee in it; therefore it has been washed over almost 50 times. She especially enjoyed it when it's wintertime.

Now it's lying empty in front of the fireplace. I will put it away at the end of the week.

Day 5 Toothpaste and Toothbrush

These are Wonton's toothpaste and toothbrush. As cats are very picky with smell and tastes, their toothpaste is usually malt flavoured because cats like malty stuff. I purchased this about a year ago but it still looks very new. Obviously it has only been used for a few times because I was too lazy to brush her teeth every week. The toothbrush is a miniature human toothbrush. It also looks very clean. Same reason.

Day 4 June 28 Part 2

A lot of emotions were going on on June 28, 2007. I was really upset about Wonton's illness and I wrote this entry on my Xanga blog. After the initial treatment at the vet, she came home half dead. She literally stayed at the same spot for the next two days and refused to swallow anything. It was heartbreaking.

Day 3 June 28, 2007 Part 1

This picture was taken when Wonton first got diagnosed and underwent some kidney treatment. Her neck was shaved because of that. I believe it was June 28, 2007.

Day 2 Temptations

I bought this pack of cat treats JUST before Wonton was diagnosed with Kidney failure in June 2007. Cats usually like fish flavoured stuff but strangely Wonton never liked it; therefore I got these beef flavoured ones. She lost her appetite after she got ill and these little snacks was the only thing that she would eat on will. In the beginning I covered some dry cat food with these treats and that's one of the ways I could get her to eat the real food underneath. They were also used to tempt Wonton to undergo her daily Sub-Q fluid treatment (I will talk about it in later entry).

I will put it into the box at the end of the week.

Day 1 Brush

This is the first official entry for the memorial project.
This is her brush. I used to hate brushing for her because she tends to shed a lot of hair. I am going to put this into the box. At the end of the week I will transfer it to the storage.
